Cheikou on his way home.

Excellent news.

Feel gutted for him though. Tough to lose in a shootout.

Have to say the quality of the pens taken in the shootout was outstanding. 9 of the 10 were just about perfect. Mane's was the only dodgy one - too low and not hard enough.

Cantona used to say 'a penalty isn't a chance, it's a goal'. When you hit them like Cameroon does he's right.

Re: AFCON thread
No reason Kouyate can't be available for Wednesday?

He was left out of Senegal's last group game, ok played Sat but two games in 10 days should be fine for a modern footballer?

Manuel da Costa (French-born Portuguese) is playing for Morocco in their game.

Re: AFCON thread
Just seen that Senegal lost in a penalty shootout yesterday so
Kouyate should be on his way home.

Liverpool are flying Mane back on a private jet. Perhaps he could hitch a lift on that!

Egypt v Morocco later.
Should be a decent game.

Re: AFCON thread
So assuming there's a 3rd place playoff, Ayew is there for the duration, but Kouyate is on his way home now?

Expect he'll be given a little bit of time off though. Back for West Brom?

Re: AFCON thread
Havent seen any games but looks like Senegal and Ghana are going on which does us no good.
Why isn't this tournament played in June?
Seemed to manage to do that for the 2010 World Cup so it cant be weather related.
Could be in odd years to avoid the Euros and World Cups.

Re: Thanks, Alan.
Not sure I've ever seen a decent game in any previous tournaments, so have given up on it.

The standard is always bloody awful.

And they need to change that blade on the Flymo.

Re: AFCON thread
Dire standard of football, they don't know the offside rule, tackle waist high, keepers play rush keeper and don't catch,

"where does ayew play for country, up top?"

franks, he seemed to be playing the No 10 role.
Asamoah Gyan was up front.

Re: AFCON thread
I think Ayew to China could be a bonus result for us.
Could see him being one who would be keen on that.
